Our 5th Annual Report
August
2011
Dear
Friends of business matters
April
2010 to March 2011 was again a very busy year for us. There have been four
sides to our service in the business and offices sector:
-
Community
building
-
Offering
a listening ear
-
Lunchtime/after
work talks
-
Opportunities
for spiritual exploration
Here
are some quotes from people who benefited from our work over the year:
Community-building
events:
- "Re yesterday's Take a Break lunchtime - excellent way to spend an hour." (Susan, an hotelier)
- "The Seder meal was probably the only time in the last few months where I have felt wanted and part of things." (M - name withheld)
Listening
ear service:
-
"It's been a pretty tough time since Christmas and we've really appreciated your support. We have had a strong sense of being held in the business matters community. As I suspect you've heard I'm taking up a partnership at [firm X]. The timing has been extraordinary and I'd never have had the courage to step out and do this without the redundancy - so it really has been a blessing in disguise." (A - name withheld)
- "With many thanks to business matters - these last couple of years would have been so much more difficult without you." (N - name withheld)
Lunchtime/after
work talks:
-
"Having worked with [co X] for 20 years I'm retiring at the end of the financial year. I would like to thank you for all the very interesting talks arranged over the years, also your ‘to make you smile' stories that I've passed on to minister friends and which have found their way into sermons!" (Yvonne, an HR manager)
Opportunities
for spiritual exploration:
-
"Thanks for all your support and inspiration this year. It really has meant so much to me." (Charlotte, a lawyer)
- "Good opportunity for me to say yet again how much all your hard work and that of the rest of the team is appreciated and what an encouragement and inspiration you all are." (Douglas, an IT manager)
It
has been most gratifying for our team to receive such comments. We count it a
privilege to serve men and women in the world of work in Edinburgh.
We
hope you enjoy reading our formal Annual Report
2011.
Yours
sincerely
