On Monday 1 February, business matters held the first in a planned series of “in conversations with” colleagues from across the business community here in the City of Edinburgh and its surrounding regions. For this launch event we were delighted to be joined by former trustee Chair of Business Matters, and one of Scotland’s leading pyschologists, Steven Turnbull.
Over the course of the 50 minute interview Steven to shared his thoughts and expertise on how we might prepare ourselves for the new ways of living and working that have arisen over recent months as a consequence of the Covid19 pandemic and the changes to our lives that we might reasonably anticipate in the months and years ahead.
During the course of the discussion with Steven we explored these dynamics under three broad headings:
- Resilience (covering things like physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing; self-esteem and values; clarifying what’s important to you etc.)
- Re-skilling (covering lifetime learning, communication skills, the digital economy, what’s your USP etc.)
- Relationships (covering your networks – personal and business, role models etc.)
The format was relatively informal, in the style of a fireside chat, but attendees were invited to participate in the discussion using the chat function on Zoom.
Various extracts from the event can be seen on the business matters’ Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/BusinessMattersEdinburgh as well

The next “in conversation with …” event is scheduled for Monday 1 March 2021 at 5.45pm. Please do contact us at info@businessmattersedinburgh.com if you’d like to secure a complimentary place.
