As part of our overall “Thrive@Work” theme, business matters ran a series of short lunchtime workshop-style sessions, facilitated by Edwin Backler.
This is a brief report on the first of these:
How To Be Present And Productive When There Is Never Enough Time.
business matters is grateful to Anderson Strathern who hosted the workshop and provided tea and coffee.
Over a lunchtime, Edwin ran an interactive session based on an approach from an organisation called GiANT Worldwide, titled “5 Gears to Connectivity”.
Using a very helpful and understandable analogy, Edwin challenged us to examine our own states of mind and behaviours throughout the day, at work and at home, and to think of which of the 5 gears in a car we would find ourselves in.
Asking ourselves how comfortable we feel in each of the situations and what our “default” gear would be under stressed and non-stressed situations enabled us to see how we might actively be able to be present and functioning well much more of the time than we perhaps manage currently.
The level of discussion during the workshop and after was a testament to the value of the content.
